On 23rd July 2015, The Imran Mir Art Foundation (IMAF) was inaugurated before an audience of art lovers, art promoters, writers, curators, gallery owners and friends, in Mir’s studio and home, designed by Mir’s friends and renowned architects, Shahid Abdulla and C Anjalendran.

At the event, the vision and objectives of the foundation were outlined. The foundation will strive to maintain and advance the artistic and cultural legacy of the artist Imran Mir, through careful documentation, preservation and archiving of Imran Mir’s work in Pakistan and abroad.  The foundation will encourage and support a broader understanding and experience of Imran Mir’s art, as well as promote and foster innovative artistic expression and art criticism in Paki-stan through various engagements with artists, designers, curators, researchers and academics globally.

In line with these aims, the Imran Mir Art Award for most promising emerging artists was also unveiled at the occasion by Professor Duriya Kazi, who explained some of the criteria for this award.
